Affiliate Disclosure

The short version

Some links on this site are partner links. If you buy something after clicking one, the company pays us a small commission. You pay exactly the same price either way — the commission comes out of the seller's margin, not out of your pocket.

What it never affects

This matters more than the disclosure itself, so it is written down as a rule rather than a promise:

• •Rankings are never for sale. The destination scores on Today and on province pages are computed from weather, air quality, seasonality, official advisories, and our own curated data. There is no term in that calculation for whether a place has anything bookable, and there never will be.
• •Safety information is never monetised. Travel advisories and our news pages carry no partner links at all.
• •We say when the free option is better. Our SIM guide tells you a local Thai SIM usually beats a travel eSIM. Our luggage page tells you to ask your hotel first. If the recommendation that earns us nothing is the right one, that is the one we print.
• •Paying more does not buy a better review. Where a partner has a real weakness — a low coverage limit, thin city coverage — it is stated on the page next to the link.

Who we earn from

All of these are reached through Travelpayouts, a travel affiliate network. Every partner link is marked as a link out, opens in a new tab, and carries rel="sponsored".

We also name companies we earn nothing from, where they are the better answer. Those are labelled as such on the page.

What we know about your clicks

When you follow a partner link, we add one to a daily counter — that a link to a given partner was clicked from a given page, on a given day. That is the whole record. We do not store your IP address, a session, a cookie, or any identifier, and we cannot tell whether any particular person clicked anything. See our privacy policy for the full picture.

Why we do it this way

Running this site costs money, and the alternatives are worse. Display advertising would slow the site down and clutter it. Paid placement would corrupt the rankings, which are the only reason the site is worth visiting. Commission on things we would have recommended anyway is the option that leaves the advice unchanged.
