Thailand's Cabinet approved replacing the 60-day visa exemption framework with updated 30-day, 15-day, and Visa on Arrival categories. Official tourism and MFA notices state the changes take effect 15 days after publication in the Royal Gazette. Until then, travellers should verify their passport using the official e-Visa portal or local Thai embassy before booking.

Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC)
All non-Thai nationals entering Thailand must complete the TDAC online before arrival. It replaces the paper arrival card, is free to submit, and is separate from your visa or visa exemption.
Submit it within 3 days before your arrival, including the arrival date. You will need passport, travel, accommodation, health declaration, and email details. Travellers transiting without passing through immigration, and border pass holders at land crossings, do not need a TDAC.
Use only the official Thai Immigration domain: tdac.immigration.go.th. Do not pay a third-party site to submit the form.

Do I need a Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC)?
Yes, all non-Thai nationals entering Thailand must submit the TDAC online before arrival. It is free, is not a visa, and can be submitted within 3 days before arrival, including the arrival date. Use only the official Thai Immigration website at tdac.immigration.go.th.
Can I extend my stay beyond the visa-free period?
Yes — you can visit a local immigration office and apply for a 30-day extension for ฿1,900. Alternatively, apply for an e-Visa before you travel for a 60-day tourist visa that can be extended once.
What happens if I overstay?
Overstaying is taken seriously. You will be fined ฿500 per day (max ฿20,000), and long overstays can lead to a ban from re-entering Thailand.
Can I work on a tourist visa?
No. Working — including remote work for non-Thai companies — technically requires a Non-Immigrant B (business) visa and a work permit. Thailand does have a Long-Term Resident (LTR) visa for remote workers with qualifying income.
Is there a minimum funds requirement?
You should be able to show ฿10,000 per person or ฿20,000 per family at the border if asked, either in cash or on a card.
How do I apply for an e-Visa?
Apply at thaievisa.go.th. Processing typically takes 3–5 business days. You'll need a valid passport, return ticket, and hotel booking.
