Terms of Use

The short version

This site is free to use and free to read. There is no account to create and nothing to buy from us. In exchange, we make no promise that anything here is correct, current or complete — and for some of what we publish, that limitation genuinely matters. Please read the next section rather than skipping it.

Information, not advice

We publish weather warnings, sea conditions, air quality readings, destination scores, visa pointers, budget estimates and travel guidance. People act on that. So it is worth being explicit about what it is:

• •Safety and weather information is a convenience, not an authority. We relay and summarise data from the Thai Meteorological Department, USGS and others. Feeds break, summaries lose nuance, and our reading of a bulletin can be wrong. In any situation where your safety depends on it, use the official source directly and follow local authorities.
• •Destination scores are an opinion expressed as a number. They are computed from data, but the weighting is a judgement we made. A high score is not a statement that somewhere is safe, and a low one is not a statement that it is dangerous.
• •Visa, immigration and insurance content is a starting point. These rules change without notice and vary by nationality and circumstance. Check the official sources we link to, and where money or your right to remain in the country is at stake, get advice from someone qualified to give it.
• •Prices, opening times and availability go stale. Treat every figure here as an estimate.

Liability

The site is provided as-is, without warranty of any kind. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for loss or damage arising from decisions made using it — including travel that did not go to plan, bookings that could not be used, or costs incurred. If that limit is unacceptable to you, the remedy is simple and free: do not rely on this site.

Partner links

Some links earn us a commission. What that does and does not affect is set out in full on our affiliate disclosure. Anything you buy is a contract between you and that company, not with us — their terms, their refunds, their customer service.

Third-party data

Official tourism data comes from the Tourism Authority of Thailand's open data catalogue under its licence. Weather and advisories come from the Thai Meteorological Department, earthquake data from USGS, air quality and forecasts from OpenWeather, and photography largely from Wikimedia Commons under its licences. Those providers set the terms for their own material; we do not claim ownership of it.

Our own content

The writing, design, and the scoring behind the destination rankings are ours. Quote us, link to us, screenshot us — that is welcome, and a link back is appreciated. Republishing pages wholesale or scraping the site to rebuild it elsewhere is not.

The public API

The endpoints under /api/ are open and unauthenticated. They are offered without any guarantee of uptime, stability or backward compatibility, and may change or disappear without notice. Please cache responses rather than polling, and do not build anything critical on them.

Privacy

Covered separately and in plain language in our privacy policy. The short version is that we count pages, not people.
