About Phatthalung

Phatthalung is a quiet southern province sandwiched between the Trang Mountains and the great Thale Luang–Songkhla Lake system — the largest natural lake in Thailand — whose shallow, bird-rich waters support distinctive floating villages and traditional long-tail fishing. The province is the birthplace of nang talung, Thailand's unique southern shadow-puppet theatre form, and several masters still perform and craft puppets in Phatthalung town. Khao Ok Thalu, a limestone peak with a natural hole through its face, is an iconic local landmark above the lake.
