About Samut Sakhon

Samut Sakhon is a small coastal province southwest of Bangkok, Thailand's most important fishing and seafood-processing hub, whose Mahachai port markets overflow with fresh seafood landed from the Gulf of Thailand. The province is famous throughout Thailand for its salted fish, shrimp products, and the morning fresh seafood market that draws Bangkok chefs before dawn. The Chao Pho Lak Mueang spirit shrine is an important centre for local Chinese-Thai religious life.
