About Samut Songkhram

Samut Songkhram is Thailand's smallest province and one of its most charming, a delta landscape of canals, coconut groves, and floating markets where Bangkok's urban sprawl gives way to an older, quieter Thailand. The Amphawa Floating Market, held on weekend evenings when long-tail boats laden with local food ply the klongs by lamplight, is one of the most atmospheric in the country. The province is also a centre for palm-sugar production and Thai traditional medicine, with ancient apothecary shops lining the river towns.
