About Sakon Nakhon
Sakon Nakhon is a deeply spiritual province centred on Nong Han, the largest natural lake in northeast Thailand, and is venerated as a cradle of Thai forest-tradition Buddhism — several revered teachers including Ajahn Man Phuritto are associated with its forest monasteries. The province holds important prehistoric heritage at Ban Chiang-related sites, and the ancient laterite Phra That Narai Cheng Weng is a fine example of Khmer craftsmanship.
