About Yasothon
Yasothon is a small, peaceful Isan province famous across Thailand for its exuberant Rocket Festival (Bun Bang Fai), held each May when elaborately decorated bamboo rockets are launched skyward to petition the gods for rain — a spectacle of noise, colour, and folk revelry. The province is also a significant centre for organic jasmine rice cultivation and has embraced sustainable agriculture. Phra That Yasoithon, a Lao-style chedi in the town centre, is the principal sacred monument.
