About Si Sa Ket

Si Sa Ket is a large, agricultural province in the lower northeast close to the Cambodian border, celebrated for its outstanding Khmer temple heritage including the recently restored Prasat Hin Wat Sa Kamphaeng Yai. The province also contains part of Khao Phra Wihan National Park, giving Thai visitors easier access to the great Khmer sanctuary of Preah Vihear whose northern cliff-face entrance lies on the Thai side of the border. Local specialities include hom mali jasmine rice, indigenous forest vegetables, and the pungent padek fermented fish sauce that defines Isan cooking.
