About Amnat Charoen

Amnat Charoen is one of Thailand's youngest and smallest northeastern provinces, carved from Ubon Ratchathani in 1993 and still relatively off the tourist trail. The province is anchored by the stunning Phra Maha Chedi Chai Mongkol, a gleaming white chedi visible for miles across the Isan plain, and by Sra Kaeo Kromaluang Lake — a pleasant urban park built around an ancient reservoir. Its Isan countryside offers an authentic glimpse of rural Thai life with paddy fields and traditional wooden villages.
